These are services we recommend and support, along with reviews
Email Clients
- Claws Mail: I originally fucked up my original login on Claws Mail, luckily I've fixed it on a second install and now can get emails although I think I fucked it up again maybe and now can only receive not respond or send emails, which is fine somewhat. Anyways it's very small and nice mail client.
Browsers
- Tor Browser: I enjoy it, the most private browser we have at the moment. Onion sites are nice and enjoyable. Although it uses Gecko so somewhat bloated don't use if you care for minimalism (fair) along with Rust which is a proprietary programming language.
- Surf Browser: Suckless qtWebKit, seems great
- BadWolf: Simple qtWebKit privacy-oriented browser
- Pale Moon: Hate modern Gecko engine features? Pale Moon's Goanna is a fork turned into it's own thing, thus somewhat limited in what it can do (mostly WASM features I'm pretty sure)
Games
- OpenArena: A jolly simple old-school Quake 3-styled arena shooter in a Quake 3 engine fork/source port. Nice but FOV cannot be changed from what I can tell. Runs goods on old computers. I can't seem to be able to play any multiplayer servers at the moment sadly due to "wrong files".
- Doom: A FUCKING CLASSIC
Extensions
- Web Archive Plus: Referred to as SingleFileZ when installed strangely. Archives the css, images and html of a page you are currently on. Remember if the page is has any NSFW blurring and you wanna archive that you have to manually remove the NSFW blur if that's possible
- uBlock Origin: A quite good adblocker, outdated versions still work good on Chromium
- NoScript: Disables JS. Neat
Torrent Clients
- qBittorrent: I enjoy using it and it uses not a lot of RAM
File formats
- PNG: A lossless file format
- JPEG: A lossy file format
- WEBP: A mix of lossless and lossy quality. Use it over png as it compresses better.
- OPUS: Built for open audio, is lossy. I use it when downloading music from YouTube.
- WEBM: Nice video format, one of the few open video formats.
- OGG: Open lossless audio formats, pretty cool.
Alternative frontends
- Invidious: A frontend to YouTube, unfortunately Google are heartless bastards and have been blocking instances from access and downloading videos.
-
- Redlib: A frontend for Reddit, written in (((RUST))) seems to be the only one that works, nice look and yeah.
- Librarian: A frontend for Odysee, only works for videos, stopped being developed because "oh no muh bigoted right-wingers" but still works somehow. If you get any errors with video playback, either change instance or change resolution.
